Christmas message from the field

We are coming to the end of 2023, the third year in which we worked to improve the self-reliance of the community in Phulanya in Southern Malawi. Together with our local employees, the community in Phulanya, local authorities and the commitment of our donors, we have been able to realize various projects.

We can look back on a special and eventful year. We have been able to celebrate results together, but have also had to face challenges. At the beginning of 2023, Cyclone Freddy caused extensive damage in southern Malawi. For a number of weeks, our work largely consisted of providing emergency assistance. The impact of the cyclone is still visible and tangible.

We would like to share some highlights of the past year: the opening of the new nursery school; the large-scale evangelism event where several churches came together in unity; the further development of our educational projects; planting trees in Phulanya and the realization of two new boreholes providing access to clean and safe drinking water. Fantastic results, where gratitude predominates!

We are also grateful to the sponsors, donors and volunteers who supported the work of One Hope Malawi Foundation last year. Your donations, efforts and involvement allowed us to do what we do. The projects give great hope to the people of Phulanya.

We wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a healthy 2024! We look forward to the year ahead, in which we will further fulfill our mission, and we call on you to continue to support our projects in 2024.

Warm regards,

On behalf of the entire One Hope Malawi team,

Moses Banda en Janien Banda-de Witte
