Since the establishment of the One Hope Malawi in 2020, we have been working in Phulanya, an area of 15 km2 in the south of Malawi. Phulanya has approximately 3000 inhabitants and consists of six different villages. Poverty in Phulanya is dire and self-reliance is low. The geographical location of Phulanya, in a remote corner of the Mulanje province, means that there are few development initiatives from the government and there is limited access to facilities. Phulanya is a forgotten area.
