Hunger in Malawi
The economy in Malawi is in a bad way. The Malawian currency, the Kwacha, has fallen sharply in value and everything has become twice as expensive. Due to both the late rainy season this year and multiple cyclones, the harvest has largely failed. Because of this, a lot of hunger is expected in Malawi. The poorest will certainly suffer as a result. One Hope Malawi is setting up projects to create employment in Phulanya. The employees on our projects will be paid a salary which will be made up of food and money. Not only will the people of Phulanya be working on the development of their own village, they will also be employed and the problem of hunger will be tackled. For example, school benches are needed for a nearby primary school. These school benches will be made by carpenters from Phulanya instead of carpenters from the city. This will provide the people of Phulanya with more opportunities to earn money. There is of course an exception for people who are unable to work because of their age, health or other reasons.
We need your help with this! To fight hunger, your financial support will be needed. By becoming or continuing to be a sponsor, you will make a difference in the lives of the people of Phulanya. Your donation means that someone has a job and can provide food for his/her family. In the video below you can see what we stand for as a foundation and where your donations go.
